3. Nesting requirements for the Eastern Bluebird:
Semi-open land surrounded by woods. They prefer meadows and apple orchards. Place pairs of nest boxes together; Tree Swallows will occupy one site leaving the other nest boxes free for bluebirds. The birdhouses need to be 5-10 feet high on a pole facing south. Space 300 feet apart and 100 feet away from trees and shrubs. Clean boxes in early February. Male scouts arrive in late winter with females arriving 2 weeks later. She will choose the nest site. At nesting time, monitor and check the young for blowflies. Blowflies are larvae that suck blood. Blowflies are often located under wings on the flesh part of a bird's body. Remove and discard blowflies. Do not be afraid to pick up the nestlings. |

Put a maple leaf or hawk decal on the window. Leave on a low light to take away the reflection. |

Black Oil sunflower seed: 70 - 75% of each seed is meat. Accepted and loved by the greatest variety of birds. We will ship birdseed anywhere in the USA. |
