HummzingerOur mission is to bring you the highest quality products to help you attract and feed wild birds or to help you create a beautiful birdscaped backyard habitat. We shop year round, from Maine to Berkshire County, to the West coast, going to birding, garden and gift shows. We presently buy from 421 vendors and we specialize in all birding and back yard nature and garden products. We only buy the best products for our discerning customers. We are constantly buying new products, whether to attract more or different birds or to help squirrel-proof your bird feeding areas.  We can make many different product recommendations for you.  Whether you own one feeder or are creating a wild life sanctuary, we're here to help.
Current Peeps and Upcoming Events
Throughout December and January we are collecting 1,000 lbs. of dog and cat food for Pet Partners, Animal D.R.E.A.M.S. and the Berkshire Humane Society.

We're really in desperate need and all donations are greatly appreciated. Next time you're planning to visit us here at the store, perhaps you could pick up a bag of food at the supermarket to bring with you. Thanks for helping us help the animals.

Birding News You Can Use
Hi all!

Winter is nearly here and many new birds will be arriving at your feeders. Be on the look out for white throated sparrows, dark eyed juncos, purple finches, red or white breasted nuthatches which are just some of the returning birds. Check your fields for horned lark and your lakes for hooded or common mergansers.

October's weather was full of surprises with temperatures ranging from 22-67 degrees and our first dusting of snow. Many of you will add millet and peanuts to your mix of seed for all our ground feeding birds. We have 2 mixes; Premium Gourmet by Wild Delight and Lyric Supreme which are both millet mixes and fun to try.

Cold weather birds need a higher calorie diet so start your suet feeding if you do not have to worry about a bear coming to visit your feeding stations. Put suet feeders in many locations. We carry 15 different styles of suet feeders and they make a nice inexpensive but enjoyable holiday gift. Fill your feeders very early in the morning for lots of bird activity.

After waking up, birds are very hungry and need quick sustenance. Water is important for all birds. Many of us put out our birdbath deicers or heated birdbaths by mid month. A clean bird stays warmer. Many of you will see bluebirds and robins taking a bath or drinking in November. Call me 413-644-9007 or e-mail me at wildbirdstore@gmail.com if you have any questions about using your birdbath in the winter. Put your birdbath near a small tree or scrub so that the birds can be protected while they are drying their feathers.
